(Historically: The opening) (This is the first Surah in the final, or traditional, compilation of Al-Qur'an and contains a total of seven verses, including the eminent phrase, ‘BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHEEM’, translated in the first verse below. Traditionally the first verse mentioned here is considered to be present at the beginning of each Surah (meaning chapter), except for one, Surah 9, but interestingly, no where is it counted as a verse in the final numbering of verses in each Surah. This most likely happened, as the traditional translation of this verse is considered as stating, that everything should begin, in the name of "Allah" and hence the need to put it in the beginning of each chapter, this seems not to fit with the meaning of the phrase, as, Allah is not a name in itself but a statement of denial, meaning not God, and the statement itself does not express the concept of praise but a foundational statement of mercy upon humanity. The order of the Qur‘an is not presented as it was revelled from the Rasul Muhammad, the first Surah recited consisted of the first five ayahs of Al-Alaq, now positioned 96th, so the opening, as it‘s named, is abstract, and was established at some point, and now recognized in a fixed order. Every Surah’s name and number, and every verse number only indicates a point of reference. This Surah has also traditionally been referenced as Al-Du’a: the action and predetermined result. Umm Al-Kitãb: the basis or mother of the book. Al-Salãt : the establishment, and closely following of correct purpose and a desire to achieve that purpose.)
This is the timeless sign conveying the knowledge from the One, who is not a deity for worship and adoration. About the abundant and effortless state of life that mankind cannot conceive by themselves, from your sustainer and maintainer. The greatest mercy: from the One. The decree: for all width and breadth of land, on account of the One, who is not a deity for worship and adoration. One rearing, fostering, nourishing and accomplishing all created beings, capable of acquiring knowledge. Surah 1:3 الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ The abundant and effortless state of life, that mankind cannot conceive of by themselves, from your sustainer and maintainer. The greatest mercy from One- Surah 1:4 مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّين - which is with you at all times, for you to follow. Be aware, we do not want you to be servants and worshippers; therefore you shall keep yourself clear of this pain in future. You must not break and demolish the path, which is original and most straight, undeviating and unceasing. The original and straight path is pleasant and delightful on which, I make life easy. I have set a banner and a standard for you, to avoid irreparable damage to yourselves. Who become angry and revengeful with this path, will be greatly confounded and perplexed; even unable to see the right course. BACK TO SURAH LIST |
