Surah 101: 1 الْقَارِعَةُ The severe calamity is a weakness of duty, an impotence of thought and ignorance, and the magnifying of oneself in words without actions, and killing through grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion toward you. 101:1 The Catastrophe! 101:1 The Shocker. 101:1 The Calamity! 101:1 The (Day) of Noise and Clamour: 101:1 OH, the sudden calamity! 101:1 The Shocker. Surah 101: 2 مَا الْقَارِعَةُ Don’t be like the ones held within this severe calamity, due to a weakness of duty, impotence of thought and ignorance; and the magnifying of oneself in words without actions, and killing through grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel an intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion toward you. 101:2 What is the Catastrophe? 101:2 What a shocker! 101:2 What is the Calamity? 101:2 What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour? 101:2 How awesome the sudden calamity! 101:2 What is the Shocker? Surah 101: 3 وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ And what grievous calamity befell you despite knowing that you do show off, and indulge in hypocrisy; and so become like the ones within a severe calamity, due to a weakness of duty, impotence of mind and ignorance; and magnifying oneself in words without actions, and killing through grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion towards you. 101:3 Ah, What will convey to you what it is, the Catastrophe! 101:3 Do you have any idea what the Shocker is? 101:3 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the calamity is! 101:3 And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is? 101:3 And what could make thee conceive what that sudden calamity will be? 101:3 And how would you know what the Shocker is? Surah 101: 4 يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ How many of the created ones actually want to remain being weak, or incapacitated, you should exist as moths drawn down freely one after another into the lighted wick of illumination; those drawn to the illumination being the ones spreading, publishing and revealing events and knowledge. 101:4 The Day when people will be like moths scattered in confusion. 101:4 That is the day when the people come out like swarms of butterflies. 101:4 A day wherein mankind will be as thickly scattered moths 101:4 (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about, 101:4 [It will occur] on the Day when men will be like moths swarming in confusion, 101:4 The Day when people come out like swarms of butterflies. Surah 101: 5 وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ And so be what all were originated and brought into existence for: or else all become weak, incapacitated and smitten with the disease of corruption; a population separated like wool and having fear of everything. 101:5 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool. 101:5 The mountains will be like fluffy wool. 101:5 And the mountains will become as carded wool. 101:5 And the mountains will be like carded wool. 101:5 and the mountains will be like fluffy tufts of wool. . . . 101:5 And the mountains will be like fluffed up wool. Surah 101: 6 فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ The very first creation, which was endowed with reason and logic and was graced, honoured, as the One’s pride. How difficult and troublesome these personal duties became for them. 101:6 And then, he whose scales are heavy (with good deeds), 101:6 As for him whose weights are heavy. 101:6 Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works), 101:6 Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy, 101:6 And then, he whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance 101:6 As for him whose weights are heavy. Surah 101: 7 فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ They became heedless and neglectful, so not in a state of living which is pleasant and approved 101:7 Will live in happiness and contentment. 101:7 He will lead a happy (eternal) life. 101:7 He will live a pleasant life. 101:7 Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction. 101:7 shall find himself in a happy' state of life; 101:7 He will be in a happy life. Surah 101: 8 وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ And as far as ones endowed with reason and logic who are able to think quickly and intelligently, to break this state of living; they will be graced, honoured and will become the pride of the One. 101:8 As for him whose scales are light, 101:8 As for him whose weights are light. 101:8 But as for him whose scales are light, 101:8 But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,- 101:8 whereas he whose weight is light in the balance 101:8 As for him whose weights are light. Surah 101: 9 فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ Because of which, this is ultimately a sufficient state. 101:9 He will be embraced by an Abyss. 101:9 His destiny is lowly. 101:9 The Bereft and Hungry One will be his mother. 101:9 Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit. 101:9 shall be engulfed by an abyss. 101:9 His destiny is the lowest. Surah 101: 10 وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ And what grievous calamity befell you in spite of you knowing that you do show off and indulge in hypocrisy, and hence you do not want to be in this ultimately sufficient state. 101:10 Ah, what will convey to you what that is! 101:10 Do you know what it is? 101:10 Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is! 101:10 And what will explain to thee what this is? 101:10 And what could make thee conceive what that [abyss] will be? 101:10 And how would you know what it is? Surah 101: 11 نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ That state is, to be in a beautiful light, from your protector and defender, of the most intense degree. 101:11 Raging fire! 101:11 The blazing Hellfire. 101:11 Raging fire. 101:11 (It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely! 101:11 A fire hotly burning! 101:11 A blazing Fire. |
