(Traditionally understood as ‘the fig’. At-tin does not have the meaning of Fig. In fact it is a combination. Waw Alif, Wa, usually translated by Lane as alas. defined as, ‘how miserable and weary.’ or ‘unfortunate and regrettable’, and it is followed by the word ‘latin’, not the word ‘tin’, meaning, bruised and broken into small particles.) (This is the 95th Surah with 8 verses in it. The linguistic understanding, with proper breakdown of all the words, letters and signs used in the old classical Arabic script of this beautiful Surah, clearly points to a sublime message from our Creator for all times to come. It is obvious, as we understand the words better here, that Rabb does not need to swear on any thing, (as the word here, based on linguistics, is felt to be Wa Latteen and not Teen, causing the confusion in the meanings and the message), to make us believe in anything, but informs us with His infinite wisdom, as to what will make or break the humanity. Clearly, if we lag behind in His realm, we will not only remain perplexed and unable to see the right course, but will become weary and miserable, akin to being bruised and broken into small pieces, and remain in that state for a very prolonged period of time. If we as human take the better approach and take charge of things with in His (Rabb's) realm, and prevent ourselves from acting in an evil and corrupt manner, we will become safe, secure and tranquil both in the hearts and the mind.) Surah 95: 1 وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ How miserable and weary are the ones bruised and broken into small particles; and the ones enduring in this state for a very large unspecified number of years. Surah 95: 2 وَطُورِ سِينِينَ In a state and condition like a tree (unable to move, rooted in their misery). Surah 95: 3 وَهَذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ And, your companions, lagging behind in my physical realm; become confounded, perplexed and unable to see the right course. Such ones should take charge over this situation; to become trusted and confided with power, authority, control and to take charge of affairs. Surah 95: 4 لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ Assuredly, we measured and proportioned them to become sociable, companionable, friendly and amicable; with the best, most beautiful and somewhat large, exceptionally good, calculations. Surah 95: 5 ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ After that measured creation, they reject and repel us, and return back time after time, to be amongst who are the lowest of the low, and the meanest of the mean. Surah 95: 6 إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ Except for such ones who have become safe, secure and tranquil in heart and mind; and worked and laboured to be in this state of order, by being incorruptible, just and honest. Therefore, for them is recompense and reward for what they have done, other than what they mediate in their mind. Surah 95: 7 فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ What then, if you give an untrue account or relations of things, weather intentionally or unintentionally; even after you are removed a distance from my guiding customs and traditions? Surah 95: 8 أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ These are not acting for the One who is not a deity for worship and adoration. Be with the most qualified and most knowing of the judges; prevented and restrained from acting in an evil, corrupt manner, or from doing what you lust. |
