Salaam Sebek,
yes, what you say is correct, if you would like to read my view of the energy structure of our consciousness you should read, 'Human Soul Nexus':

Peace be your nature,
I have read the article and will take more time to digest it. I agree with many things said here but want to discuss many things as well, but in time and in the appropriate threads. For now I want to focus on salaat. You stated you agree with what I said, but does this mean that you no longer see salaat as desire? I would like to elaborate my understanding so as to be more clear.
I have salat = programming/conditioning. Programming and conditioning of what? That would be the energy/matter side of being, what mankind refers to as the spirit/soul/subconcious/psyche, etc.
Who are we? We are conciousness! That which percieves the energy/matter (body/thoughts/images/plants/rocks etc), but Itself cannot be percieved.
God, and Man, are composed of an indivisible duality. This is where the term individual comes from. There is a part of being with which we must identify with, we call it the SELF. It contains no energy/matter, or we should say that energy is at a state of rest (salaam/nirvana/wu ji, etc). Then there is the other part that we must not identify with, and it is the NOT SELF. It is the energy/matter component of being.
The SELF is conciousness/will , while the NOT SELF is energy/matter. So this gives us the answer why when a person WILLS to do something like stop smoking, he/she keeps on smoking. Why? Because the part of your being that WILLS contains no energy, it is the not self/spirit/soul/energy/matter that carries out what you will.
But why does it not always carry out what we will? Because while one can always WILL something, The Energy/matter vehicle is TIME CONDITIONED (a timed book). We can liken this with many similitudes, such as the mans ability to give his seed anytime, but the woman is set to a cycle as to when she can receive the seed. The farmer can plant his seeds any time, but only at tthe right time will this seed be accepted by the soil and bring forth a plant. The sun shines fully always but the moon reflects in cycles, etc.
So salaat is the concept that show us how to get the "day and night" to properly merge, how to properly unite the man and woman so they bring forth a "child".
Have you seen the merging of the day and night?
Interestingly, the only times mentioned in this teaching(quran) are dawn and dusk, when day and night merge.
This time is a symbol of the STATE between awake(will) and sleep(spirit). This is the MEDItation state (medi=middle(wusta)). It is in this state that the spirit is receptive and will accept the seed. This is how man lears the things he imitates. Man goes through this NATURAL state many times a day but fails to recognize this state of salaat which has been lost. When you are daydreaming, spaced out, in a strong emotional pull, etc, this is the TRANCE state that we are speaking of, and again, we go in and out of this state everyday and night, UNAWARE to most! This is why we are told "woe to the programmer/conditioner who is unaware of his/her programming/conditioning"! And this is why we are told to "GUARD your program/condition".
There are people who understand this concept clearly and use it as a weapon against man!
I did not bring brainwave patterns into my discussion because I think you already agree with that objective evidence. But I am trying to figure out where "desire" fits in here? Man is peaceful by nature. All responses to lifes events should be from this state of peace/salaam/nirvana/wu ji/the void, etc
If we respond with desire we are following the footsteps of iblis(which I have as desire). Salaat must be from a position of peace so that we are clear what we are planting.
Please discuss this with me more so we can help each other work this out.

Salaam Sebek,
I believe it is a misconception to accept the view we must remove Iblis, also termed the Ego, or the awake mind, the self as it were, which is the Sufi view.
What you say Salat means is fine, but do you not have a desire to find the information to reprogramme yourself, do you not have a desire to establish a safe and nurturing environment for yourself and your family, do you not have a desire to develop the ability to reason and think, all these desires are in line with the Qur'anic concept, we establish purpose and a desire to accomplish that purpose, then we use Dua to perform the action of this desired purpose, and invoke a predetermined result.

May Peace be your nature,
>>>I believe it is a misconception to accept the view we must remove Iblis, also termed the Ego, or the awake mind, the self as it were, which is the Sufi view.<<<
I do not hold that view either as I dont associate Iblis with the Self. The Self is God, or conciousness/will, that which percieves matter/energy, but Itself cannot be percieved. We know It by Its effects in the world. Iblis and Shayteen deal with the emoional/animal nature in man. It is not to be removed, but put in its proper place, as a follower, not a leader. This is why the Bible says "satan, get thee behind me". And this teaching(quran) states that we should not FOLLOW the footsteps of Iblis. We never let emotions lead us as they are blind, dumb, animalistic concepts. The WILL must lead, and the energy/matter part of being must do the work, just as the story of Solomon's jinn explains.
>>>What you say Salat means is fine, but do you not have a desire to find the information to reprogramme yourself, do you not have a desire to establish a safe and nurturing environment for yourself and your family, do you not have a desire to develop the ability to reason and think,<<<
Yes I do have those urges/desires as well as others from time to time that are not good. The good ones are associated with "malaika" and the bad ones are associated with "shayteen".
>>all these desires are in line with the Qur'anic concept, we establish purpose and a desire to accomplish that purpose, then we use Dua to perform the action of this desired purpose, and invoke a predetermined result.<<<
Can you please elaborate on this last section as I am not clear what you are saying and this is what I want to understand so I can see where we difference is between our understandings.
My question to you in the meantime is...are there things in your life that you want to change but have not been successful doing it? Like dieting, or stopping smoking, etc? And if so, why is it that you have a hard time doing so, even though you WILL/Declare to do so?

Salaam Brothers;
I am a student in search of truth and my knowledge may be nothing as compared to you people.
I have read your posts and I would like to share my understanding of SALAAT.
As per my understanding, there are different meanings for SALAAT and these meanings are according to the context.
SALAAT has been mentioned various times in Quran in different Ayaats and during different topics.
All I can say is that SALAAT is linked with (Leading and Following).
Leader can be the prophet, Caliph, or someone chosen by a community / Society / Nation in a legitimate way to represent them according to the concept of Quran.
Follower is the society / Nation / Community itself which follows what their representative Does / Say or demands.
In short, SALAAT should be looked at with different angles and in context of the topics and Ayaats it has been mentioned within.
I may be wrong in my understanding but still I would like to request you all to analyze it this way.
A collective effort in form of analysis and discussion is definitely better than individual approach.

Salaam;
Further analysis of the word SALAAT in Quran:
2:02 is the Introductory verse which contains the word SALAAT.
If SALAAT is considered as a ritual, no method has been mentioned anywhere in Quran for establishing it.
BUT
If it is considered as "Following the system/Law/command of Allah", the whole book tells us how to establish it.
As per my understanding, the meaning of SALAAT can be "Following the System/Law/Command of Allah" and it further leads us to a state of (Growth and Development) ZAKAT.
